Below are two images of perfectly framed interviews, I researched this and print screened these images to help us when framing our own interviews and have an idea of what the perfect framing is suppose to look like. These images demonstate a tight frame, starting just above the head and ending just below the shoulders. Also they illustrate the direction in which the interviewer should be facing, if the interviewee is situated on the left hand side then the interview should be on the right hand side, and if the interviewee is placed on the right hand side then the interviewer should be placed on the left hand side. This is demonstrated in the screenshots below.
On the far right is an example of a poorly framed interview as the framing at the top cuts off the interviewee head and the frame is too close.
After deciding that universities and apprentiships was the topics to explore in our documentary, we devised a documentary proposal, which broke down our topic into sections which consisted of the following: the main topic, key facts and sources, cutaways, principle positions ans perspectives and possible speakers. We also planned to film our cutaways at Kings college university, southbank university and Univerisity college london but due to adverse weathe condition, we were not able to film and have to reschedule.
This is the logo which we will be using through out the documentary which stands for Havering College Of Further Education Television. This will be seen through out the our five minute clip. The style stands out because of its bright red colours, and can be easily recogniseable on screen. The logo is similar to the BBC logo below which they use as it's plain simple and effect.
As this is our first week, we organised ourselves in to groups and took on responsibilities such as Director, Editor, Camera man and Sound. We then decided as a group what topic we were going to explore in our five minute documentary. Our first topic choice we thought of exploring the black hair industry but with further consideration although an interesting topic it wasn't realistic enough to get several speakers to talk about the subject. We finally decided to explore the topic of Universities why people go and what are the alternatives such as apprenticeships.
